Red is one of the penalty cards used in many sport games which means warning,reprimanding or penalizing a coach,player or team official. Penalty cards are often used by referees or Umpires to show that a player just committed an offense.
The referee will hold the card above his/her head, then point to that player that just committed a punishable offense
Brief History and Origination of Penalty cards
The language used by Referees to communicate with players,coach,or team officials was brought in by Referee Ken Aston who was appointed to FIFA committee
In 1966,FIFA World cup quarter finals,as England faces Argentina in the Wembley stadium.
During the match the referee in charge of the game referee Rudolf Kreitlein cautioned bobby and jack Charlton and also sent off Argentinian Antonio Raton, this year referees still sends players off verbally and at times when a player doesn't understand the referee's language, he will stay on pitch and they will be later chased away with police,
This gave Ken Aston headache, on his way home he was disturbed on how to discipline players on the pitch of play and he realised that colour coding scheme can based on the same principle Traffic light was built on

This can give a mute to language barrier in football and also makes it clear to both opponent and fans that a player has been sent off or cautioned from play
As a result he proposed Yellow card to mean Caution and Red card mean expelled.
This card were firstly used in 1970 World cup
In Mexico and cards were started spreading all over sports .
Red cards are used in several sport but we focus on football, red card commonly indicates a very serious offense has been made which makes a player be kicked out of play.
A Red is shown by referee to a player to show a player has been sent out of player. A player who has received red card cannot be replaced during that game that is the number of players that started the game will be fewer. If a goalkeeper receives a red card another player will be allowed to resume on his duties on the field.
This red card can only be shown to player who has committed violent conducts,illegal or purposeful obstruction if goal scoring chance by the opponent. A red card will be also shown to player who has accumulated caution card -Yellow card

What are fouls ?
Fouls is unfair act by a player deemed by the referee to contravene the game played law.
In football, fouls are reward with direct free kick ,indirect free kick and, Penalty kick.
When the following acts are done you get a caution card
1.Unsupported behaviour
2. Dissent by word or actions
3.Persistent Infringement of law of the game
3.Delaying start of play
4.Failute to respect required distance when play is restarted with free kick,a corner kick and throw In
3.leaving field without referee's permission
But this are the grievous offense that will make you get knocked out of play in football
1.Serious foul play
2.Violent conduct(Which has earlier been cautioned)
3.spitting at opponent
4.Receiving second caution over an act.
