Wenger should pick this 4-2-3-1 against Bayern Munich on Wednesday
Arsenal’s Champions League tormentors are rearing their heads again, this time during their pre-season fixtures. The tormentors in question, the current German champions, Bayern Munich.
After a less than stellar season which saw Arsenal finish in fifth place, the first time they have finished outside of the top four since 1996, Arsene Wenger will want his side to push on during pre-season no matter who the opposition are.
Although it may only be a pre-season fixture, a win against Bayern Munich at any time is something to celebrate.
If Arsenal can pull off a major upset against one of Europe’s elite sides, then they’ll need a bit of luck, along with the right starting 11 of course.
With that being said, here is the starting 11 that Arsene Wenger should pick, if they’re hoping to pull off a pre-season shock and beat Bayern Munich…

At the age of 35, Petr Cech has still got it.
Granted Wenger should probably start looking elsewhere for a number one keeper if he doesn’t plan on giving Ospina that role, to prepare for either Cech’s departure to drop down a level or two, or for his retirement.
However, right now he is still a very capable shot stopper and is the best option The Gunners will have against the German title winners.

Bellerin’s pace has caused Bayern Munich problems in the past.
His ability to get down the line to provide cover for Oxlade-Chamberlain or Walcott if they may want to cut inside is crucial to Arsenal’s style of play going forward.
Bayern will most likely field a slightly weaker side against Arsenal, meaning Bellerin might be able to take advantage of certain players lack of experience.

Koscielny didn’t feature in Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph over Chelsea in May due to a red card suspension keeping him out of the tie.
He’ll want to remind his manager how good he can be during pre-season, and what better time to do so than a game against Bayern Munich.

Mustafi had a difficult first season for Arsenal.
The World Cup winner never really gained any consistent form in the league due to a couple of injuries hampering his playing time.
Despite that he showed glimpses of the quality he proved he had at Valencia last season and a good pre-season could lay the foundation down for the German to have a much better season next time out.

One of the new boys at Arsenal this transfer window, Kolasinac will want to put in a shift during pre-season to prove to his new boss that he deserves a place in the side.
The left back who Shalke allowed to join The Gunners on a free transfer this summer is highly rated by those who talk about him. This game will be the first chance to really prove his worth.

Granit Xhaka was one of Arsenal’s stand out performers last season in a disappointing campaign for The Gunners.
The centre midfielder is proficient in defence and attack with an absolute rocket of a left foot.
With plenty of time to grow, keeping a first team place is crucial to his development so he will want to impress here.

Aaron Ramsey is pretty much the best of a bad situation in the centre of the park for Arsenal.
Still riding his performances from 2013, Aaron Ramsey needs to say his Arsenal career and it should start during pre-season.
He started showing glimpses of quality towards the tail end of last season and he needs to carry that on to help Arsenal shock Bayern.

Now if Alexis Sanchez was available during the pre-season tour, he would feature in this side.
Unfortunately, he isn’t available so Walcott has to take his place.
Walcott’s career has stagnated a bit over the last few seasons and, much like Ramsey, he needs to save his Arsenal career.
With players like Thomas Lemar linked with the club, Walcott needs to have a great pre-season and if he shows the quality he has shown before, he can help Arsenal shock their opponents

Although the German playmaker is yet to sign a new contract at The Emirates, it looks very likely that he will.
Ozil has nothing to prove, he is a fantastic player and with Lacazette’s movement in front of him instead of Giroud, his passing can cut open the Bayern defence and cause them some real problems.

If Oxlade-Chamberlain stays at Arsenal, he will want certain guarantees of consistent first team football for The Gunners, something he hasn’t seen in his six years at the club.
The 23-year-old has improved a lot in recent years and in our landlord’s opinion, offers more of an attacking threat than Walcott and he also proved towards the end of last season that he is defensively sound too.
Just because he is promised first team football, doesn’t mean he won’t need to impress and a big game against Bayern Munich will be just the stage.

Arsenal’s new hope going forward, Alexandre Lacazette will be raring to go against Munich come game day.
The talented forward bagged 28 league goals last season and will be looking to score even more for Arsenal.
What better way to warm yourself up for the Premier League than a game against one of the best teams in the world.
